PVWC Launches New Web Map with Address Lookup Tool for Hydrant Flushing

(Clifton, NJ – June 4, 2025) — Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) is excited to announce the launch of a new, interactive web map designed to make it easier for customers to stay informed about hydrant flushing activity in their neighborhoods.

The new address lookup tool allows customers to enter their home address and instantly see if PVWC is flushing nearby. Hydrant flushing is a routine yet essential maintenance process that improves water quality by removing sediment from pipes and ensuring proper valve operation. However, it can occasionally cause temporary discoloration or reduced water pressure — making this tool a valuable resource for planning ahead.

“At PVWC, transparency and customer engagement are top priorities,” said Jim Mueller, Executive Director of PVWC. “This new web map takes the guesswork out of hydrant flushing schedules and empowers residents with timely, accurate information. I want to thank our outstanding GIS team for making this tool a reality.”

The tool is available now at pvwc.com, and flushing schedules are updated regularly. Customers are also encouraged to register for PVWC’s free notification system at https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=pvwc to receive real-time notifications about water service and community updates.

This new feature is part of PVWC’s broader initiative to modernize customer communication and increase access to timely, accurate information in multiple languages across all platforms.
