Prospect Park Hydrant Flushing & Valve Testing
2026 Hydrant Flushing Notice – Borough of Prospect Park, NJ
Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) will begin its annual hydrant flushing program in Prospect Park starting Monday, July 6, 2026, beginning in Zone 12 (Subzone 1). Hydrant flushing will take place on weekdays (excluding holidays), weather permitting, Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Flushing in Prospect Park is expected to take approximately two weeks.
This important maintenance program helps ensure a reliable water supply by removing sediment buildup and maintaining proper water flow throughout the system.
During flushing activities, customers may experience temporary water discoloration and/or reduced water pressure. This is normal and occurs when sediment and naturally occurring minerals are disturbed within the water mains. As a precaution, residents are encouraged to avoid doing laundry during flushing hours and to wait until water runs clear before using it for drinking or cooking.
Customers experiencing discoloration should run their cold water tap until the water clears. PVWC appreciates the patience and cooperation of Prospect Park residents as this essential maintenance work is completed.
