Passaic Valley Water Commission Announces Water Line Has Been Successfully Recharged and Water Recovery Continues – Boil Water Advisory Remains in Effect in Paterson and Prospect Park – Comfort Station and Bottled Water Still Available
**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
(Clifton, N.J. – August 14, 2025) – Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) has successfully repressurized the existing 24 inch water line disrupted during the recent water main break. Customers in the affected areas should notice an increased pressure and volume of water, with Paterson having now recovered water service. It is anticipated that most, if not all, of Prospect Park residents should recover their water service by Friday morning. PVWC staff are working closely with the Manchester Utilities Authority in Haledon and North Haledon to assist in recovering their water service.
The boil water advisory for Paterson and Prospect Park remains in effect. Residents and businesses in Paterson and Prospect Park should continue to boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or making ice—or use bottled water—until you are officially notified that the water quality is safe.
PVWC crews and contractors continue to work around the clock to complete repairs, restore water and conduct the necessary testing to ensure the water is safe to drink. Please be aware that PVWC crews have badges and uniforms. Please do not open your door to any unauthorized visitors. If anyone comes to your home claiming to do water quality tests and do not have the proper credentials, do not let them in and call your local police department.
