Testing Your Water For Lead

There are three ways to test your water for lead:

    Send a water sample to a laboratory: A state approved laboratory can test drinking water from your tap to learn if lead levels are too high. If the water testing results find lead levels at or greater than 15 parts per billion, contact the Passaic Valley Water Commission at 973-340-4300 so they can find the cause of the high level.

    Schedule an appointment for PVWC to take water sample: You can schedule an appointment with PVWC to have a PVWC employee take a water sample from your tap and test it for free.

    Purchase at home test kit: You can also purchase an at home test kit for testing your water. Use an EPA-approved lead test kit:
